where it all began
When Carl & Bente Birkkjaer came from Denmark to Canada in 1975. Embracing their new home Canada and honoring their heritage from Denmark. denca Cabinets was founded. (denca, Denmark-Canada)
Carl brought with him a carpenter’s passion for craftsmanship done right. while Bente quickly became known for her European flair and creativity in Kitchen design.
That combination meant Danish-style custom cabinetry known for its cutting-edge design and precision manufacturing. Their early success lead to a solid reputation – and a manufacturing facility that in the early 1980’s was known for its leading-edge machinery and a design studio where consumers could bring their creativity to life.
a family legacy
Denca Cabinets continues to be a family success story. Since 2007, Daughter Heidi and husband Dominic, are now second-generation owners.
Dominic’s expertise is in the details of the kitchen. With over 20 years of experience, he offers an extensive mechanical and renovation background. Having completed 100’s of residential kitchen and bathroom renovations. Dominic leads the engineering, manufacturing and installation teams at Denca, while using his creative and innovative perspective to constantly improve and expand Denca’s product lines.
Heidi’s extensive experience lies in management and marketing. Having studied in business administration prior to entering into her family business in 2004. She enjoys the multiple facets of owning a cabinetry business and taking her clients visions and creating beautiful functional living spaces.
She is past President of the Canadian Kitchen Cabinet Association (ckca.ca).
Dominic and Heidi enjoy a productive and happy work environment. They believe that working as a team are key drivers to denca Cabinets success.
