Set nearby the Elbow River in one of Calgary’s most historic neighbourhoods, this home renovation is a story of both craftsmanship and connection. Our client—no stranger to Denca—trusted us once again to bring her vision to life, having already partnered with us on a previous kitchen. This time, she invited us into a home full of architectural detail and family memories, where the cabinetry had to respect the character of the space—and elevate the way it functions.
We opened up the kitchen by removing two peninsulas that previously closed off the space. In their place, we introduced a large, central island that adds flow and functionality. We replaced the over-the-range microwave with a custom canopy hood, giving the room a well-deserved focal point. The client chose a stunning slab of quartzite—sourced through Denca—which now wraps the island with a waterfall edge and extends up the wall as a full-height backsplash.
Custom cabinetry provides smart storage in every direction, including upper and lower cabinets in the passageway between the kitchen and dining room. Glass-front cabinets turn that transition into a true butler’s pantry. Throughout the rest of the home, we carefully refinished original millwork in the dining room, library, and entryway to maintain warmth and continuity.
From gallery walls to framed art by her grandson, this client’s personality is visible in every corner. And now, the cabinetry lives up to the home’s story.

This kitchen renovation focused on transforming both form and function.
